The figurative artist Ugo Dossi presents his works on metaphysics, astronomy and the cosmos, hypnosis, telepathy, tarot, alchemy, the collective subconscious, Franz Anton Mesmer and Wilhelm Reich, which have been shown twice at the Documenta in Kassel and twice at the Venice Biennale, as well as in many other international exhibitions and museums.
The documentary offers exclusive insights into the Bavarian artist's studio and explains the deeper meaning of his works. Moreover, the film talks about the system and history of the tarot and the automatic drawing method developed by the artist himself. Furthermore, it explores the issues of relative freedom and the ego in relation to the overall view of the universe.
Ugo Dossi - Art and Space is about an Italo-German artist who has delved into the world of tarot in his work, giving back the deck visually without many incrustations brought about by time, but also remaining faithful to the original tarot. His whole way of thinking is influenced by magic, he just believes that art is a tool to enter into a cosmic understanding of our being part of everything and it's also a kind of gnostic world view that he has, he also has key figures of esotericism like Mesmer or Reich in his artistic pantheon. Most of his work has been made under and through the concept and practice of collective automatic drawing, collected during séances or by means of telepathy.
